Common Boneset

Eupatorium perfoliatum

Robust plant with white heads, most easily recognized by its large, pointed, heavily veined leaves that join on opposite sides of the hairy stem. Traditional medicine used extracts to treat fevers but not, apparently, to set bones.

1-3 feet, sun, partial shade.

Summer-Autumn (July-October).

The distinctive leaves, which the stem seems to pierce--hence the Latin name.

26 July 2020.
