Wild Senna

Senna hebecarpa     (Cassia hebecarpa)

The leaves of this are compound, with the leaflets (up to 10 pairs) pinnately arrayed; each leaflet is up to 3 inches long and less than half as wide, ovate, with a slight point at the tip.  Clusters of flowers appear at the ends of branches or on separate stalks growing from the leaf axils. The cluster is up to 8 inches across; each flower is about 3/4 inch long, consists of yellow petals and prominent stamens ending in dark brown anthers. When in bloom, this is quite a a showy plant.
