Butterfly-Weed

Asclepias tuberosa

This striking plant has clusters of bright orange (occasionally yellow) florets, each of which has the typical form of milkweeds--a small crown of five erect points, with five pointed reflexed bracts beneath. Leaves are fairly long, pointed, untoothed, and stems often reddish. The seedpod is long and smooth.
