Butterweed  (also Cressleaf Groundsel, Yellowtop)

Packera glabella (formerly Senecio glabellus)

This plant, poisonous to mammals including humans, is rare as far north as Chicago. It has clusters of golden yellow composite flowers atop heavy stalks with marked vertical veins. Lower leaves are large and deeply lobed.

1-3 feet, partial sun.

Spring-Summer (May-July).

Deeply lobed leaves near the base of the plant.
