Chicory

Cichorium intybus

Common weed with flowers of lovely clear blue that close by afternoon.  Sometimes white or pink (as photo below). Flowers attach directly to stalk. Stalks are rangy, leafless; leaves form a basal rosette.

0-4 feet, sun.

Summer-Autumn (June-October).

Flower petals, usually about 20,  are flat-tipped and slightly notched.
