Prairie Cinquefoil (Tall Cinquefoil)

Potentilla arguta (also Drymocallis arguta)

This species is distinguished from other cinquefoils by its pale yellow or white petals and by the leaves, mostly near the base, which are compound with 7-11 leaflets. The stem is round, stocky, and very hairy.  The bloomed-out seed heads and sturdy stems often remain standing, brown, until long into the next year.

1-3 feet, sun.

Summer (June-August).

Pointed sepals between each petal are usually longer than the petals.
