Stiff Coreopsis

Coreopsis palmata

This coreopsis is distinguished from its relative Lance-leaved Coreopsis by its somewhat taller, bushier growth habit, its less profuse numbers of flowers, and especially by its leaves, which are narrow and branch about halfwayup the leaf into 3 narrow lobes, forming the shape of a bird's foot (see photo below). Flower petals end irregularly, lacking the distinctive notching of Lance-leaved Coreopsis.

1-3 feet, sun.

Summer (June-July).

Seed heads after flowering season. Note 3-lobed "bird-foot" leaves.
