Gill-over-the-ground  (Ground Ivy)

Glechoma hederacea

Common in lawns, this plant produces small flowers of purple in leaf axils.  Leaves rounded and toothed on short stems; green, sometimes tinged with red or purple.

Creeper, partial sun or partial shade.

Spring-Summer (April-July).

Gill-over-the-ground, 19 May 2020.

Often forms a dense mat on the ground.
