Hard-leaved Goldenrod (Stiff Goldenrod)

Oligoneuron rigidum  (Solidago rigida)

This species has showy, flat-topped flowering heads; florets large (1/8 inch) with 6-14 rays. Distinctive are the leathery upper leaves, which are rounded and stiff,untoothed, and clasp the stem. Stem hairy, and basal leaves large and rough/hairy on long stalks.

Summer-Autumn (August-October).

Large basal leaves, on a long stalk in this case, reddish).
