Monarda punctata

The erect stems have leafy bracts that turn white or lavendar; above them the flowers (1/2 inch) are yellow with purple speckles. Flowers sometimes hidden by bracts.  Square-stemmed, like all members of the mint family.  

1-3 feet, sun - partial shade.

Summer-Autumn (July-October).

The yellow flowers here visible.
