Horseweed

Erigeron canadensis

This common weed has a dense panicle of small florets (1/4 inch) in a cylindrical green sheaths atop a straight stem.  Florets have white rays that do not open, but rather change to fluffy pappus attached to a seed. Leaves near ground are linear, up to 5 inches long.


1-6 feet, sun-partial sun.


Summer-Autumn (June-November).

A dense stand of Horseweed.
