Canada Milk-Vetch

Astragalus canadensis

Erect red stems bear spikes of greenish-cream tubular flowers in great numbers; spikes are up to 1 foot or more in length; individual flowers about 1 inch in length. Foliage is pinnate, with up to 15 opposite pairs of oval, untoothed leaves on each branch. After blooming, the spikes become heavy heads of seed, turning from green to dark brown.
