Common Morning-Glory

Ipomoea purpurea

The trumpet-shaped flowers, up to 3 inches across, may be white, pink, blue, or purple.  Leaves are heart-shaped; vines fuzzy.

Because it grows rapidly, produces profuse blooms, and is colorful, many cultivars of Common Morning-Glory are available to gardeners in a variety of shades.

Seeds of this plant are said to be mildly psychedelic; but commercially marketed seeds are sometimes treated with various toxic chemicals as preservatives.


Trailing or climbing vine, up to 10 feet; sun - partial sun.


Summer-Autumn (July-October).
