Mugwort

Artemisia vulgaris

This weedy plant produces along its thin upper stems numerous greenish-white buds that scarcely open.  This species is aromatic if the leaves are crushed.  Leaves are silvery underneath; on upper stems they are small and lanceolate, but lower leaves are larger (up to 5 inches or more), deeply and multiply divided into pointed lobes.

Summer (July-August).
