Pasture Rose (Carolina Rose)

Rosa carolina

A low-growing rose; flowers, about 2 inches or more across, have bright pink petals and yellow centers with many stamens. Leaves are pinnate like those of most roses; distinctive are the thorns, which are on the stems below leaf twigs and are narrow and straight (not hooked as on some other species). Stems are generally hairless and smooth.

1-3 feet, sun - partial sun. In or beside water.

Summer (June-July).
