Late-flowering Thoroughwort

Eupatorium serotinum             (Late Boneset)

This native perennial sends up seveal stems which branch to give a shrub-like appearance. Leaves are lanceolate, up to 6 inches or more in length and usually 1 inch or a bit more wide; they are usually opposite (sometimes alternate high on the plant), on a stalk or petiole up to 2 inches in length, have prominent veining, and jagged dentations on the edges. At the top of its stems, the plant produces numerous flat-topped clusters of white flowers; the panicles are usually 3-4 inches across, but each flower is only about 1/8 inch across and consists entirely of disk florets.

2-4 feet, sun - partial sun. Prefers moist ground.
