Canada Goldenrod

Solidago canadensis

This common goldenrod has a showy panicle, with each floret having 9-15 rays. Alternate leaves along the slightly hairy stem are numerous and sessile (no petiole); each is long, narrow, smooth on top but slightly hairy on bottom, and either smooth-edged or with very slight teeth. Similar to Tall Goldenrod (S. altissima), which some consider the same species.

Note hairy stem, plentiful attached alternate leaves,with minimal or no teeth.
